Quite the conundrum is what it was described as…
Q: How can I export my Exchange contacts from my iPhone? I am syncing my iPhone with exchange and my PC, but none of the exchange contacts sync. Any attempt to sync or export with iTunes or Google do NOT export the exchange contacts. Is there a way?
A: Yes! There is a way. Exchange is not too inviting when it comes to exporting and the iPhone was not designed to tap into exchange contacts. There are a lot of posts of people offering solutions, but this is the only one I found to work. Here goes:
1- First, the solution does incorporate the use of syncing to a Google Gmail account. So setup a Gmail account if you do not already have one. You do NOT need to set it up on your iPhone, just have the account credentials ready for the sync software.
2- Exchange contacts are in the iPhone in a Group and so you need a sync software that handles Groups. Sync in a Blink is one such ap for the iPhone. I used it to extract the exchange contacts (but found it a bit kludgy to use on an ongoing syncing basis). It a $5 ap, expensive in the ap world, but if you have 100′s+ of contacts, its worth trading your next 5bucks coffee to get this done. Download Sync in a Blink and install on your iPhone.
3- Launch SyncinaBlink and enter your Gmail account credentials. Follow the directions here to setup Sync in a Blink
4- Sync to push all of the iPhone contacts to Gmail. This will create groups on your iPhone (you can remove them later if you like), but will also EXPORT the Group of Exchange contacts in you iPhone to Gmail.
5- MAKE SURE the sync is done properly. Login into Gmail and see the contacts there, probably in a group entitled ‘Other Group’. Once in Gmail, you can re-assign the group these contacts belong to.
6- Next you can export to a CSV from Google and you have all your extracted exchange contacts in a csv file! Optionally, you can re-sync with your iPhone once you re-categorized your contacts and you will then have the exchange contacts in both the Exchange Group in your iPhone AND in your contacts in your iphone.
7- Now you can remove/delete the Exchange account from your iPhone and you still have all your contacts!
Cheers!
